
Aka School offers students a wide variety of co-curricular activities throughout the school year. These activities are designed to provide students with the opportunity to increase their skill base in areas other than academics. These activities are a means to enhance social interaction, leadership, healthy recreation, self-discipline and self-confidence of our students.
SPORTS:
Our sports hall provides facilities for football, volleyball, basketball, badminton, handball and other indoor games. It provides opportunities for students to participate in individual and team games. There is a half olympic swimming pool that consists of 5 lanes. Training of ice-skating and hokey is given by our professional teachers in ice-skating area. Apart from the main sports hall, there are also table tennis and aerobic halls where students can enjoy their spare time activities.
CREATIVE ARTS:
All students are encouraged to participate in the school activities to develop skills that go beyond their academic performance.
Classes in music, art and performing arts help to develop creative talents and encourage imagination and confidence.
SPACE OBSERVATORY
AKA School’s Space Observatory is one of the unique observatories located in primary and secondary schools in Turkey. All the students from preschool to highschool have the chance to observe and examine the magnificent space, our nearest star ‘Sun’, the planets, solar system, natural and artificial satellites, meteors, stars, mass of star deaths, star evolving areas and more.
ROBOTICS CLUB:
In our Robotics Club, a group of students from a variety of different engineering disciplines work together on robotics research and education. Our goal is to provide a hands on environment for the students to use and develop their engineering skills, while at the same time having fun.
COMMUNITY SERVICE CLUB:
It is important for our students to engage in community service to take responsibility in the social service activities such as helping children with special needs, visiting schools in rural areas .
A group of our students have recently collected and donated books, stationery and sports equipment to a school in the rural area.
Our school organizes a variety of community service activities such as visits to the orphanages, disabled children associations. School invites such people to school and organize parties and help them feel that they are not different from others. Students go to the public schools and help students with their English and Maths lessons. School appoints a full time CAS coordinator.
SCHOOL RECYCLING PROJECT
The aim of the school recycling program is to create a learning experience. Assemblies are hold at the conference hall to inform the pupils and the teachers about the importance of recycling to the environment.
Paper-recycling bins are provided for the students and teachers in each classroom and in the library to put used paper in. Recycling bins for cans and glasses are provided in the cafeteria .
AKA SCHOOL MODEL UNITED NATIONS CLUB
Model United Nations Club is an extra-curricular activity in which students typically roleplay delegates to the United Nations and simulate UN committees. This activity takes place at MUN conferences. At the end of most conferences, outstanding delegates in each committee are recognized and given an award certificate.. Thousands of middle school and high school students across the country and around the world participate in Model United Nations, which involves substantial researching, public speaking, debating, and writing skills, as well as critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities.
Through this club, our students are aware of global issues, current events ,other countries, cultures and international relationships. They develop leadership, communication ,public speaking skills, peer interaction. They are also encouraged to take part in different national and international conferences and be responsible for the world peace.
DRAMA CLUB;
Drama Club is an activity that centers on the production of at least one full play each year. This activity is open to all students. There is an audition for the acting parts involved in the play, but there are other areas in which students may be involved. Students can be on stage crew, helping construct the set for the play. Students may learn to use set lights and sound, while other artistically students may be able to help with posters, costumes and / or make-up. This club allows students to work as an ensemble in putting together a show.
DANCE CLUB;
The Dance Club focuses on an array of dance styles like hip hop or salsa. The group dances over the whole school year and performs at several events.
